Week in Review: Signs, Flowers Steal The Show

'The Hunger Games' comes to Long Valley Middle School.

We learned more specifics this week about the major bridge projects coming to town this year, specifically on Middle Valley and Newburgh Roads. The Middle Valley Road Bridge is expected to begin in June, according to the Morris County Engineer, and it looks like the Newburgh Road Bridge will begin in August. Both projects are expected to last anywhere between six and eight months.

An annual event to honor cyclists who have lost their lives while sharing the road with vehicles, , is coming back to Long Valley in May. The local event is being organized by the David D. Hammar Foundation, and is open to anyone who would like to join. .

Our weekly update on Glenn Lightner, a 13-year-old Long Valley resident battling brain cancer, profiled another grassroots fundraiser that took place recently. One of the Lightner’s neighbors, Rolf Denton, thought it would be a great idea to play a soccer game in Glenn’s honor. What come of it? More than $1,500 in donations. .

Students at the had a pretty intense day recently as they took part in the first-ever ‘Hunger Games’ competition. Students in house 8-1 read the book and saw the blockbuster film recently, and conducted their own games as constructed by teachers Kate Sansom and Carol Samples.

Following up on an incident that took place back in March, the Warren County Prosecutors Office released the transcript of a . The transcript includes explicit language and may not be suitable for everyone. .

The Washington Township Community Events Organization says advertising signs it has placed around town are being stolen or removed, and it’s hurting the efforts put forth by the non-profit group. .
