Week in Review: Taxes, Leaders Come and Go

Happy Birthday to our Athlete of the Week.

We said goodbye to an extended February and hello to (a hopefully mild) March. The week was filled with news particular to Long Valley’s residents, and we covered as much as we could.

As we said goodbye and hello to the months, we also said the same to the West Morris Regional High School district superintendent Anthony di Battista. . The superintendent’s retirement , and new . Pendergrast was introduced by the school board on Monday night. .

The Washington Township School district, West Morris Regional School district, and Washington Township Committee all released preliminary budget numbers this week, and two of the three have increased.

Long Valley Patch nominated Kylene Cochrane as its Athlete of the Week after she spent the winter setting five new school records in track and making an appearance in the Meet of Champions. Oh, and she just turned 16 and is only a sophomore. Wow. .

Washington Township took the opportunity to vote on Long Valley Patch’s Readers’ Choice poll, debuting this week. , and 224 voters chose Valley Restaurant & Pub over six other restaurants.

The Local Voices section of Long Valley Patch had some great new information this week, including an awards ceremony for a local Boy Scout troop; our high school senior blogger Michelle Richar telling us about how she plans to achieve her Girl Scout Gold Award; and we welcomed our newest blogger, Nicole Ort of Ort Farms to talk about agriculture in Long Valley.
