Division 3 is ours.
But the township needs to step in and make the last five days count.
Washington Township has been part of the Morris County Municipal Action to Curb Hunger (M.C.M.A.T.C.H.) program all month long, and is close to overtaking the top spot in its division.
As of Wednesday afternoon, Washington Township had amassed 3,786 pounds of donated goods to help the Washington Township Food Pantry. It trails the top town, Denville, by 132 pounds. In a very distant third is Morris Township with just 337 pounds of donated goods.
M.C.M.A.T.C.H. is in its second year of the monthly campaign, which runs throughout September. Final donations are due before midnight on Sept. 30.
According to the organization, division winners get bragging rights and special recognition at the County’s Human Services Public Officials Forum in October.
