Long Valley Wrestlers Post 6-2 Weekend Record

The Long Valley youth wrestling program returned to competition this weekend after the snowstorm forced cancellations 7 days ago, and went a combined 6-2 on the varsity level.

The Tri-County team started the weekend by defeating in-conference rival Jefferson on Thursday, bringing their conference record to 2-0.  Tri-county then dropped a Friday night dual to cross-town rival Mendham.

The Future Stars team wrestled Jefferson side-by-side with the Tri-County squad, winning several close matches to take their dual.

On Saturday, the Grade School team handily beat Parsippany, East Brunswick, and North Warren to improve to 5-1 on the season.

Also on Saturday, nearly 40 2nd-grade-and-under Wolfpack wrestlers competed in their 3rd KOM Novice scrimmage of the season, this time taking on Roxbury, New Providence, Hopatcong and Jefferson.

On Sunday, Mount Olive broke Long Valley's 37-match Northwest League winning streak; the Northwest team hadn't lost a dual match since January 16, 2011.  The Long Valley 6th-grade-and-under team came back to beat Newton and bring their record to 5-1, and remains in a strong position to defend their championship despite the loss.

The Wolfpack will take a 12-5 combined dual record into the holidays.

Long Valley's Grade School team will continue to compete over the holidays with a tri-match on December 28th and an exhibition dual challenge against two of South Jersey's premier teams at South Plainfield on New Year's Eve morning.
