The Time to Register for Cub Scouts is Now

If you are interested in seeing what Cub Scouts is all about, Pack 36–Old Farmers Road School–is having an open house and registration event on Sept. 14.

Wow, that was fast… summer is over and we are getting back to our routines with school, sports, church and Cub Scouts. But I thought I would take the time to ask what you did last summer. While many of us took the time off to enjoy a little vacation, the boys of Pack 36 and their families were busy earning their summertime activities pins. In June, we had our annual pack campout and cookout at Teetertown Reserve campground. In July, the boys participated in the annual Scout Night with the Somerset Patriots baseball team in Bridgewater. The boys were able to parade on the field for the opening ceremonies and National Anthem. Then to finish our summer with scouting activities, in August we attended the 3rd annual Kevin M. Walsh Firework Festival.

We are looking forward to another exciting year of events, trips and activities. You may even see us around over the next few weeks in the center of town during our one fundraiser for the year, popcorn. If you are interested in joining Cub Scouts for the upcoming year, it’s not too late. You can join at any time from 1st grade through 5th grade and can your son can still advance in rank from wherever he starts. Pack 36 will be having an informational open house on Friday, September 14th 2012 from 7:30-9 PM at Old Farmer’s Road School. Long Valley has some of the largest numbers of participants in scouts in the area.  Come on bye and see what Cub Scouts is all about.
