Devout Church Member, Grandmother Dies at 81

Anna Schmieder move to Long Valley in 1963; was an elder at Long Valley Presbyterian Church.

For 50 years Anna Maria Schmieder was much a part of Long Valley as the name itself.

The 81-year-old mother and grandmother passed away Dec. 20 at Holly Manor Care Center in Mendham, but not before leaving her mark on the town, according to her obituary at williamjleberfh.com.

Schmieder was born in Brooklyn, New York on Nov. 28, 1932. She lost both her parents at a young age and was raised by Clara and Walter Moulder in Glendale, New York before settling in Long Valley in 1963.

Schmieder was a devout member of Long Valley Presbyterian Church and served as an elder there. She served as the Long Valley Delegate to the Newton Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of the USA.

The homemaker was widowed in 2001 and is survived by Marianne Schmieder, Robert Schmieder, Carolyn Van Solkema and her husband Henry, and Thomas Schmieder and his wife Melissa. She is also survived by two grandchildren, the obituary said.
