Hackettstown Emergency Doctor, Long Valley Man Dies at 62

'Chet' Skiba is survived by his wife and two daughters.

Chester Skiba’s passion and occupation was to keep others safe and healthy.

The Hackettstown Regional Medical Center Emergency Department Director died Tuesday at the age of 62.

Skiba, a Long Valley resident for more than 24 years, had just celebrated his birthday on April 9, according to his obituary.

Skiba, affectionately known as “Chet,” was a history enthusiast and enjoyed the National D-Day Museum in New Orleans, Louisiana. He also lived in Italy for six years where he learned to speak the language fluently.

Skiba is survived by his wife of 27 years, Maria, and two daughters.

A celebration of Skiba’s life will be held on Saturday, April 19 from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at St. Luke Parish in Long Valley.

Memorial donations can be made in Skiba’s name to the National WWII Museum, 945 Magazine Street, New Orleans, LA 70130.
