Long Valley Man, Father of 3 Dies at 39

Those who knew James Bernecker knew he loved spending time with his three daughters.

The 39-year-old car dealership service center manager died unexpectedly at his Long Valley home on Sunday, March 16.

Bernecker was a caring and compassionate person who loved animals, according to his obituary. He enjoyed running, wood-working, automotive hobbies and spending time with friends.

But most of all, the memorial said, Bernecker enjoyed spending time with his three girls.

He is survived by his daughters Abigail, Lily, and Madeline and their mother, Katherine Bumber. He is also survived by his mother and her husband, his father and his wife, and two younger sisters.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 22 at Cochran Funeral Home on High Street in Hackettstown from 2 to 6 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m.
