Considered an “angel on earth” by those who knew her best, Long Valley lost a longtime resident this weekend as Lisa Czyzewski, 44, succumbed to her battle with cancer.

Czyzewski died on the morning of Jan. 11 at her home. She was a registered nurse in the Neonatal Unit at St. Barnabas Regional Hospital in Livingston.

The beloved wife and mother had an affinity for all animals and enjoyed helping others. She met her husband, Pete, in middle school, and the two have been together ever since.

She is survived by her husband, daughter Rebecca Rose, father Jerry Nieto, two brothers, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral mass will be held Thursday, Jan. 16 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark’s Roman Catholic Church in Long Valley. Burial will be held at Pequest Union Cemetery in Great Meadows following the Mass.

Visitation will be held at Cochrane Funeral Home in Hackettstown on Wednesday, January 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorial donations can be made to Pete Czyzewski, care of Cochrane Funeral Home.

With Hope by Steven Curtis Chapman This is not at all How we thought it was supposed to be We had so many plans for you We has so many dreams But now you've gone away And left us with the memories of your smile And nothing we can say And nothing we can do Can take away the pain The pain of losing you And we can cry with hope We can say good-bye with hope 'Cause we know our good-bye is not the end And we can grieve with hope 'Cause we believe with hope There's a place where we'll see your face again We'll see your face again
