Mother of 2, Long Valley Woman Dies at 55

Insurance adjuster enjoyed supper and book clubs.

When she wasn’t vacationing in Myrtle Beach, Janice Tiernan was spending time reading and meeting with her book and supper clubs.

Tiernan, a Long Valley resident of the past six years, died at the age of 55, according to her obituary.

Born in Elmwood Park, Tiernan graduated from Montclair State University and lived in West Orange before moving to Washington Township. She was an insurance adjuster for the Great American Insurance Company.

Tiernan loved spending time with her two children and her dog, the obituary said. She is survived by a son and daughter, her husband Jerry of 24 years, and many extended family members.

A celebration of Tiernan’s life will be held Saturday, April 19 at William Leber Funeral Home from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Memorial donations can be made in Janice’s Memory to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105; or to Memorial Sloan Kettering, P.O. Box 5028, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
