Burglar Sought After 11 Car Break-Ins Reported

Police are looking for a “suspicious” male after 11 cars were burglarized early Monday morning and six more vehicle break-ins were attempted, according to Lt. Art Adams.

Washington Township Police responded to a residence on Sierra Drive after receiving a call at 1:42 a.m. Monday when a homeowner reported seeing a suspicious male in the front yard after entering a motor vehicle in the driveway, Adams said.

An investigation revealed 11 cars were burglarized, with wallets, cash and electronic devices being stolen, Adams said. The wallets were then left behind – contents removed – in the area, Adams said.

Another six vehicles in the area were attempted to be broken into, Adams said, but the perpetrator was unsuccessful.

Two other break-in sprees were reported in the area in the past couple months, including in the area of Flintlock Drive and roads along Route 513.

Adams wouldn’t speculate if the incidents were related, but he said the timing of the break-ins, along with the contents taken were similar in nature and that the detective bureau “isn’t ruling anything out..” Monday morning’s incident was the first time an electronic device was stolen, Adams said. He wouldn’t specify what kind of device it was.

Police are asking if anyone observed anything or anyone suspicious between Sunday night and Monday morning in the Sierra Drive area or has any information to call 908-876-8311.

Police are also asking any residents with outdoor security cameras to check their monitors for suspicious activity during the time frame stated. Residents are also reminded to keep their vehicles locked and remain diligent in reporting suspicious activity to the police department.
