Cop Rescues Baby Deer After Falling Into Storm Drain

Fawn was headed into drainage pipe before Officer Adam Feichter could capture it.

A police officer’s day can involve anything from domestic disputes to drug busts and every unruly citizen in between.

And some days it can involve baby deer.

On Friday morning Officer Adam Feichter received a report from a passing motorist that a fawn was trapped in a storm drain at the intersection of Naughright and Ranney roads, Lt. Mark Niemynski said.

Feichter found the baby deer after it fell through the grate and into the drain, Niemynski said. With the assistance of Cpl. Lucas Allen, the two officers removed the grate covering the drain, and Feichter climbed down inside.

Feichter was able to capture the fawn, which was already on the move down the drain pipe, Niemynski said. The deer was removed from the drain, uninjured, and released back into the wild.
