Cops Arrest Alleged Schooley's Mtn. Burglar

The following information was provided by the Washington Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Manville man has been arrested and charged with burglary after allegedly stealing from two Long Valley homes in the area of Pleasant Grove and Wehrli Roads in January, Washington Township Police Lt. Mark Niemynski said.

Dale Scott Jr., 39, allegedly burglarized two homes on Jan. 23 and 25, when property owners reported belongings had been taken, Niemynski said. Scott was identified after a witness revealed pertinent information during the investigation, Niemynski said.

Scott was arrested and charged on Wednesday, Feb. 22 with two counts of burglary and two counts of theft by Det. Sgt. Chris Bratus and Det. Cpl. Lucas Allen. Scott is currently in the Somerset County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail.

During the investigation, the police department received a substantial amount of information from vigilant residents, Niemynski said.

“We express our gratitude in working collaboratively with the community in solving these crimes,” Niemynski said.
