Cops: Cell Phone Stop Leads to Warrant Arrest

The following arrest information was supplied by the Washington Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Jersey City man driving through Washington Township was pulled over for allegedly talking on a cell phone and subsequently arrested for outstanding criminal and traffic warrants, Washington Township Police Lt. Mark Niemynski said.

Officer Kirk Griffin stopped Jermaine Davis on Wednesday on Route 46, and learned that Davis' driver’s license was suspended, Niemynski said. Griffin also found Davis had an active traffic warrant out of East Rutherford in the amount of $300, and an active criminal warrant out of Weehawken in the amount of $300, Niemynski said.

Davis was arrested and processed at the Washington Township Police Department, and posted bail on both his warrants and was released, Niemynski said. Davis was issued a motor vehicle summons for driving while suspended and talking on a cell phone.
