Cops: Drunk Driver Was Speeding

The following information was provided by the Hackettstown Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A drunk driver from Independence Township was spotted by Hackettstown officers when he was speeding down Route 517, police said.

The driver had been going 45 mph at about 2:40 a.m. Sunday, police said. An officer who stopped the vehicle detected odor on 22-year-old Denon Rogers, police said.

Rogers could not perform field sobriety tests, and was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving and speeding, police said. He was released pending a court appearance.
