Cops: Long Valley Man Arrested on DWI Charge, Resists Arrest

Failed sobriety tests lead to handcuffs, police say.

Just after midnight on Sunday, April 24, Long Valley resident Bernard Murray, Jr. was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated on Pleasant Grove Road, according to Washington Township Police Lt. Mark Niemynski.

Murray, 53, was pulled over by Washington Township Police Officer Adam Feichter for not maintaining his lane, Niemynski said. After approaching the vehicle and speaking with the driver, Feichter had Murray take part in field sobriety tests, which Murray failed, Niemynski said.

Feichter arrested Murray, who then refused to enter the rear seat of the patrol unit, Niemynski said. Murray was eventually placed in the vehicle and transported to Washington Township Police Headquarters and processed, Niemynski said.
