Cops: Long Valley Man Drove Drunk in Hackettstown

Stop for tinted windows leads to DWI charge, police say.

A 25-year-old Long Valley man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated in Hackettstown in the early morning hours of Monday, May 2, Hackettstown Police Detective Darren Tynan said.

Brian Fitzpatrick was pulled over at 2:43 a.m. on Rt. 517 for having tinted windows, Tynan said. When the investigating officer spoke with Fitzpatrick, he smelled alcohol and had the driver conduct field sobriety tests, Tynan said.

Fitzpatrick failed the tests and was brought to Hackettstown Police Headquarters, Tynan said. There, he was given the Alcotest, which showed he was over the legal limit, Tynan said.
