Cops: Man Assaulted Woman, Fled Police Twice

The following information was provided by the Hackettstown Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Hackettstown man punched a woman in the face and pushed her in the stomach before fleeing from police, but was eventually found in a Mansfield Village apartment, according to Hackettstown Police Det. Darren Tynan.

Michael Reiss, 19, assaulted the woman at the 100 block of Mountain Avenue in Hackettstown, then fled the scene and went to a house on Bells Lane in Hackettstown before police arrived, Tynan said.

When authorities arrived at the Bells Lane residence, Reiss was gone, Tynan said. Even so, four men inside the home refused to answer the door, Tynan said. Shane Weiboldt, 20, of Hackettstown; Shaun Cancelliere, 28, of Hackettstown, Anthony Boisvert, 21, of Lake Hopatcong, and Robert Gannon, 31, of Parsippany all refused to answer the door, Tynan said.

Reiss left the Bells Lane was later found in the Mansfield Village apartment complex by Mansfield and , Tynan said.

The woman was transported to Hackettstown Regional Medical Center, Tynan said.

The four men at the Bells Lane residence were all arrested and charged with obstruction of justice. Weiboldt was also charged with resisting arrest. Reiss was charged with assaulting the woman and with hindering apprehension.

Assisting at the scene was the Hackettstown Rescue Squad and the Independence Township K-9 Unit.
