Cops: Man Crashes Car While on Medication

The following arrest information was supplied by the Washington Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Stanhope man crashed his car on Rt. 46 and was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence of prescription medication, Washington Township Police Lt. Mark Niemynski said.

Michael Riker, 31, damaged a street sign, steel poles and a parked car when he crashed Friday, Aug. 12, Niemynski said.

Officer Peter Cecere responded to the scene and charged Riker with driving under the influence of prescription medication, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to keep right, and use of a cellular phone while driving.

Riker was brought to Washington Township Police Headquarters and later released with a court date.
