Individual Sought in Attempted Gas Station Robbery

Nothing was taken from Hackettstown Citgo Wednesday morning, police said.

Police are searching for an individual who allegedly attempted to burglarize the Citgo Gas Station on Route 57 in Hackettstown Wednesday morning, Hackettstown Police Det. Darren Tynan said.

Officers responded to the business at about 5:30 a.m. to an attempted burglary, and learned someone tried breaking into the store, Tynan said.

A search by officers and the Sussex County K-9 Unit turned up empty Wednesday morning, police said. Police also said nothing was stolen from the business.

No further details have been given at this time, but police are asking anyone with information to contact the Hackettstown Detective Bureau at 908-852-3302, as the investigation is ongoing.

Assisting at the scene were the Hackettstown Detective Bureau and the Sussex County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit.
