Cops: Teen Had 8 Bags of Pot in Parked Car

The following information was provided by the Washington Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Sparta teen was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana on Saturday when found him in the back of a car at Califon Park, Lt. Douglas Compton said.

Officer Robert Brobst was patrolling the park just before midnight when he came across two vehicles parked in the lot, Compton said. One vehicle was empty, while the other had four people in it, Compton said.

When speaking with the vehicle’s occupants, Brobst smelled marijuana and discovered a backseat passenger, Felipe Rivera, 19, had eight small bags of marijuana and a marijuana blunt cigar, Compton said.

Rivera was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams. The other three occupants were released and not charged, Compton said.
