Cops: Stop for Tinted Windows Leads to Cocaine Arrest

The following arrest information was supplied by the Washington Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Jersey City man had 26 bags of cocaine and crack cocaine in his car when he was stopped for a motor vehicle violation on Fairmount Road, Washington Township Police Lt. Mark Niemynski said.

Patrol Officer Kirk Griffin stopped Jose Lopez’s car for having tinted windows, and smelled burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle, Niemynski said. Lopez, 33, admitted to having marijuana, and subsequently gave written consent for Griffen to search his vehicle, Niemynski said.

Griffin’s investigation revealed 26 bags of cocaine and crack cocaine mix with a street value of $520, Niemynski said. Lopez was charged with possession of cocaine, distribution of cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle and having tinted windows.
