Driver Snaps Utility Pole After Sliding Off Kings Highway, Cops Say

Pennsylvania woman sustained minor injuries and was charged with careless driving, police report.

A Pennsylvania woman sustained minor injuries when her car slid off the roadway during a heavy downpour on Friday evening, Washington Township Police said.

Beth Jonas, 24, was driving northbound on Kings Highway near the Cobblestone Road intersection just after 6:30 p.m. when her car, a Honda CRV, slid off the roadway to the right, striking and snapping a utility pole, which then caused the car to flip onto its roof, Lt. Mark Niemynski said.

Jonas was charged with careless driving and complained of a shoulder injury, but did not receive medical attention, Niemynski said.

The Washington Township Department of Public Works assisted with the road closure.

how many times do people ignore weather conditions and think they're invincible because they have 4WD or an SUV? If your tires can't get friction with the road because of thick snow or excess water, it won't matter how many wheel drive you have or what "traction control" your car has, you will end up wrecking your car! It's simple physics!
