Fire Hydrant Crash Led to DWI Charges, Cops Say

Long Valley man also charged with leaving the scene of an accident.

A Long Valley man was charged with DWI and leaving the scene of an accident Tuesday after police said he struck a fire hydrant on Fawnridge Drive and attempted to flee.

Edward Pryor III, 36, was additionally charged with failure to report an accident and reckless driving, according to Washington Township Police Lt. Art Adams.

Police received a call about the struck hydrant around 7:30 p.m. and found Pryor's car disabled on Fawnridge Drive, Adams said. After an investigation, Pryor was arrested and transported to the police station.
