Fishing Derby Hooks Huge Crowd, Reels In Fun and Prizes

Police Benevolence Association's annual event drew more than hundred fishers and residents.

The weather couldn't have been better and the fish were biting all morning long.

Washington Township's Police Benevolence Association Local 301 hosted its annual Fishing Derby tournament recently, and more than 100 residents came out to compete for the biggest – and smallest – catch.

Prizes were awarded for biggest and smallest fish in three different age categories up to 12 years old. Registrants received PBA t-shirts, hot dogs and drinks and were able to enter any catch into the competition during the three-hour event.

All donations at the event benefit the PBA and its ongoing community efforts. Officer Derek Heymer and Det. Mike Hade organized the derby. Photos courtesy Washington Township Police.
