Fiery Collision with Tractor-Trailer Kills Washington Twp. Man

Pennsylvania State Police have identified a man killed Monday morning in an accident at the toll plaza on Interstate 78 near Williams Township, Pa., Easton Patch reported.

Daniel C. Murphy, 65, of Washington Township, died after a tractor trailer collided with his car, which was stopped at the toll booth on the westbound side of the highway in Williams Township.

According to police, both vehicles caught fire after the crash. The truck driver managed to get out of his cab, but Murphy was trapped inside his Ford Taurus, police said, and died at the scene.

The accident remains under investigation. Police have not released the truck driver's name.

Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission spokesman Joe Donnelly said the crash shut down the highway for several hours Monday, with westbound drivers in New Jersey being redirected to Route 22.
