A motorcyclist from Long Valley died after colliding with a sports car Sunday morning on Interstate 78, New Jersey State Police said.
John Ryan, 53, was riding his black Yamaha motorcycle in the center lane on the westbound side of the interstate highway when he veered into the left lane, Sgt. Brian Polite said.
When Ryan veered into the left lane, he collided with a gray Ford Mustang in the Phillipsburg area, Polite said. Ryan was taken by the Phillipsburg First Aid Squad to St. Luke Hospital in Warren County where he was pronounced dead.
The two occupants of the sports car were uninjured, Polite said.
The reason for Ryan veering is still under investigation, Polite said. The call came in to police around 11:30 a.m.
