Man Asked to Be Arrested, Then Resisted, Cops Say

Allegedly drunk Hackettstown resident first requested to be handcuffed, according to police report.

A Hackettstown man was arrested after saying he wanted to be taken into custody, then resisted arrest, Hackettstown Police said.

Edison Caceres, 20, was found face down on the porch of a home when police responded to a report of an intoxicated individual, Sgt. Darren Tynan said.

When police questioned Caceres, he told authorities he wanted to be arrested, but then began pushing his way through the officers in an attempt to leave, Tynan said.

Officers attempted to take Caceres into custody when he resisted arrest, Tynan said. The Hackettstown resident was ultimately subdued and handcuffed, Tynan said.

Caceres was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Caceres was recently arrested for allegedly being involved in a verbal dispute in Hackettstown.
