Pedestrian Killed in Hackettstown Hit-and-Run

Mountain Avenue was closed in Hackettstown Wednesday morning for nearly four hours.

A pedestrian walking on Mountain Avenue in Hackettstown Wednesday morning was struck and killed by a vehicle, which left the scene and has yet to be found, Hackettstown Police Det. Darren Tynan said. 

The incident occured just after 4 a.m. Wednesday morning, and the stretch of roadway between Little Street and Route 46 was shut down for nearly four hours while police investigated.

Tynan would not give further details at this time, but said the driver and vehicle that struck the pedestrian is yet to be found.

As of 8:40 a.m., the portion of roadway was reopened to motorists, Tynan said.
