Police: Teen Fell 15 Feet From Rock While Hiking

Woman injures wrist, ankle after accident in Cataract Park.

An 18-year-old Long Valley woman fell 15 feet from a rock face while hiking in Cataract Park on Schooley’s Mountain, injuring her wrist and ankle, Washington Township Police Lt. Art Adams said.

Lauren Terpstra fell from a rock face near a waterfall, Adams said, and was taken to Hackettstown Regional Medical Center for treatment. A fellow hiker made the call to police, who responded to the area at 4:40 Wednesday afternoon, Adams said.

Members of Schooley’s Mountain Fire Company, Long Valley First Aid Squad and Medic 57 assisted police in locating Terpstra in the heavily wooded area, and removed her from the woods, Adams said.
