The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office is investigation what residents described as a possible bomb scare on Naughright Road Thursday.
First Assistant Prosecutor Thomas Zelante told Patch he would not comment on the situation, but explained there is an investigation underway.
“I do not believe there is a threat to the community,” Zelante said. He would not confirm—or deny—a bomb squad was used near the intersection of Naughright Road and Acorn Street.
Washington Township resident Jaime Goodrich told Patch she heard “a loud boom” that woke her up around 3:30 a.m. Thursday. Goodrich said she saw bomb squad personnel in the area between 4 and 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
Washington Township Police have directed all questions to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.
