A pregnant woman was sent to the hospital after being struck in the side on West Main Street on Friday, Chester Borough Police said.
Zachary Gibbon of Long Valley was exiting the Chester Shopping Mall onto West Main Street just before 9 a.m., Chief David Jara said, when he struck Jennifer Briganti, 28, of Washington (Warren County).
Briganti’s Toyota 4 Runner rolled over as a result of the impact, Jara said. Briganti’s 2-year-old daughter was in the car, but was uninjured. Briganti was taken to Morristown Medical Center by the Chester First Aid Squad for precautionary reasons, Jara said, but is doing fine now.
Gibbon was issued a summons for careless driving.
Officer Lou Capone responded to the scene and the Chester Volunteer Fire Company also assisted. The road was closed for approximately 30 minutes while Briganti’s vehicle was towed away.
