Sinkhole Repairs Expected to Begin Monday

College View Drive roadway, sidewalks and properties damaged after water main break last week.

Repairs to the roadway, sidewalk and properties damaged by a massive sinkhole on College View Drive are expected to start on Monday, Hackettstown's mayor said.

According to a statement released by Mayor Maria DiGiovanni, Maser Consulting geotechnical engineers, town officials, and Hackettstown Municipal Utilities Authority (HMUA) officials on Saturday evaluated the site of the water main break and sinkholes.

The roadway and sidewalks remain barricaded to prevent vehicular and pedestrian traffic on that portion of College View Drive, the mayor said.

On Monday, "we expect insurance company representatives to be on site with the intent to start the restoration process to the roadway, sidewalks and properties impacted," the mayor said.

HMUA and town officials continue to monitor the site and will oversee the restoration process, the mayor said.
