Week in Review: Wet Weather Couldn't Slow Long Valley

See what you may have missed this week.

While Long Valley continued to feel the wrath of April’s sogginess this past week, there were plenty of bright spots along the way (sun-drenched 60-degree days were nice). As usual it was a news-filled week in Long Valley, so let’s take a look at some of our top stories, in case you missed them.

The week began with the announcement from two Washington Township residents that , and will vie for an open seat on the Washington Township Committee. Republicans Tracy Tobin and will face-off in the June primary to fill Vice Mayor Jim Harmon’s role on the governing body. Harmon made the decision not to run for re-election so he could spend more time with his family.

On March 31 a Squire Hill Road home was set ablaze, and police are currently investigating the situation as possible arson. The family that owns the home reached out to Long Valley Patch, and asked for the community’s help with any leads in the case. For more information on the situation and how you can help, .

As the week went on, we continued to share updates from the Gumersell family, who’s youngest member, Jack, fell from a second story window in his Long Valley home on March 30.
