The occupants—William Reedy, 90, and his wife, Joyce Reedy, 85, both of Hackettstown—were trapped inside the vehicle after being struck by a Ford Excursion SUV, Tynan said.

William Reedy was driving southbound on Mountain Avenue when he attempted to turn left into the gas station, Tynan said. While crossing over two lanes, Reedy was struck by the Excursion heading northbound in the outer lane, Tynan said.

The Excursion, driven by Muhsin Muheisen, 39, of Washington (Warren County), jumped the curb and came to a stop in the gas station lot as a result of the impact, Tynan said.

Both William and Joyce Reedy were flown to Morristown Medical Center, Tynan said. Joyce Reedy died as a result of the injuries the following day, Tynan said.

William Reedy is still in the hospital, Tynan said.

Muheisen and his passenger, Wisam Muheisen, 36, also of Washington, refused medical attention at the scene, Tynan said.

The crash remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene was the Hackettstown Fire Dept, Hackettstown Rescue Squad, St Clare’s Medic Unit, Hackettstown Fire Police, Northstar and Atlantic Air 1.
