Woman Killed in Single-Car Crash Thursday Morning
Driver was traveling alone when her car struck a tree on Camp Washington Road, police said.
A Glen Gardner woman traveling through Long Valley early Thursday morning died when her vehicle struck a tree on Camp Washington Road, police said.
Jeannine LeFrancis, 55, was heading northeast on Camp Washington Road near the intersection of East Springtown Road when her car left its lane of travel and struck a tree on the driver side of the vehicle, Lt. Doug Compton said.
Police received the call at 4:28 a.m. from a passerby who found LeFrancis' car "embedded" in the tree, Compton said. There were no skid marks in the road, and it is currently unknown why LeFrancis left the roadway.
LeFrancis was traveling alone, Compton said, and road conditions were not an issue.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the Washington Township Police and Morris County Prosecutor's Office Major Crime Unit.
Long Valley First Aid Squad, St. Claire's, and Schooley's Mountain Fire Company assisted at with extrication and scene safety.
