$920K in Road Fixes Could Get OK by Twp. Monday Night

$500K of capital improvement projects to be paid for through bonds.

The Washington Township Committee is just one vote away from approving nearly $1 million in funds to repair roads in the township this year, with more than half of it coming through the issuance of bonds.

At its regular meeting, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Monday night, the committee is holding a second reading, public hearing and potential vote on approving the funds, which include $500,000 in the issuance of bonds.

Also on the agenda the township will look to submit a grant for road repairs to East Valley Brook Road. Earlier this year the township applied for a grant but was not awarded according to a list of funds dispersed by the New Jersey Department of Transportation recently. The state awarded some $86 million to hundreds of municipalities to aid repair projects.

A large section of the northern portion of Naughright Road would also be completely reconstructed. Portions of Black River Road and Hacklebarney Road are part of the plans as well, and would be reclaimed and repaved.

An additional seven miles of roadway would receive the oil and chip treatment with the funds as well.
