JCP&L to Face Township at Nov. Meeting

Officials will meet with governing body, residents in two weeks.

Washington Township's energy provider, Jersey Central Power & Light, will meet the municipality's governing body at its regular meeting on Monday, Nov. 21 at the municipal building.

The utility company's officials were originally scheduled to meet with the township committee on Oct. 12 at the monthly work session meeting, but asked for an extension because it couldn't gather all the records requested by the township.

JCP&L was asked to appear and go over its response methods after lengthy outages plagued the area due to Hurricane Irene, which hit Washington Township on Aug. 28.

The utility company's officials will now be asked about its response efforts to both Irene and the recent snow storm that kept some residents in Long Valley without power for eight days.

The meeting is open to the public and residents are encouraged to attend. Mayor Ken Short has asked that those attending bring any and all records of outages they've experienced over the past five years.
