JCP&L to Target School Areas for Power Friday

Mayor says to be wary of utility provider's information.

As Day 11 post-Hurricane Sandy begins in Washington Township, Jersey Central Power & Light says it has heard residents loud and clear.

Despite the utility provider's power outage map stating there were still 2,182 residents in the dark Friday morning, a conversation between Mayor Ken Short and Director of External Affairs for First Energy Jeff Elser Thursday night revealed a game plan of sorts to end the work week.

"I asked Mr. Elser for the absolute truth as to power restoration in Washington Township," Short said in a letter to residents Thursday night. "As I have learned, the information provided comes directly from JCP&L, and is not always correct."

Elser's outline of power restoration to Short is as follows:

There will be supervisory crews on Bartley Road and Naughright Road (Thursday night) analyzing the damages to provide for active work crews on Friday. The Chester circuit #17540 serves Old Farmers Road School as well as the Middle School. There will be crews working on that circuit (Friday). This will allow for power restoration to East Mill Road and residents in the Capital Estates section of the Township. These are considered as quarantine circuit which means the crews keep working until completion of power.

The WMCHS (circuit #17541) which runs off the Chester Sub-station, currently has crews working and will continue working throughout tomorrow. These crews will be working the entire circuit.  This means that they will not stop at the High School, but continue beyond. This, hopefully, will bring the Coleman Road, Ridgeline, Chancellor Way, Bartley, Fairview Avenue, Ranney Road and Squire Roads to restoration of power.

The circuit that feeds Cuccinella School (circuit #17100) is a dual circuit that provides power from the Drakestown Sub-station as well as the Newburgh Road Sub-station. The supervisory crew has been on site (Thursday night) assessing the damages. Crews will muster at the Draketown Sub-station (Friday morning) and work towards restoration of Cuccinella School on Friday. The reopening of Naughright Road should happen on Friday.

Power will also probably be restored to the Nestling Pines Sub-division, Warwick Estates, Cambridge Estates, The Woods, as well as the Mission Road area.

Please remember that these are statements from JCP&L that have not been accurate in the past. This is the best information that I have available at this time and am relying totally on information provided by JCP&L. There was also a conference call (Thursday) which provided an update from JCP&L. The JCP&L President Lynch made a statement that everyone will have full restoration of power by the end of the weekend with the exception of several “spot” outages. I have also been advised that an additional 1,200 workers have arrived in NJ and will be “in the field” on Friday.

In addition, I have also been advised that there is no shortage of parts, transformers or utility poles.

Just more lies!!! I live right across the street from the high school, still no power and not a single repair truck in sight. This is unbelievable. Maybe the higher up exec's of JCP&L would like to try living with no heat, electric and water for 12 days
Ljm09 November 09, 2012 at 11:16 PM
I came that way right before my post they were gone and had that yellow generator running again next to the pole, there are tons of houses in these developments.

Not sure if they are still there but they said if they didn't finish tonight they would be back tomorrow. They are one of multiple crews working on the circuit that serves the area. See the mayor's afternoon update on the twsp web page: http://wtmorris.org/

No power back for me either- off Old Farmers Rd and in the Capitol Estates section. I am really missing clear communication about when we can reasonably expect restoration
Just Sayin' November 10, 2012 at 12:19 AM
Tree crews cleared the portion of Beacon Hill that is Tewksbury Twp. up to the town line, but didn't go any further. Where the garbage truck got stuck on wires has dangling ends of wirs into the road and multiple trees still hanging on the wires! Crazy and dangerous!
jb November 10, 2012 at 12:23 AM
Flocktown near Beam still no power.
Deb November 10, 2012 at 01:44 AM
Beacon Hill is unbelievable! Power restoration? How about let's get the huge trees off the power lines so real power work can be done!
lauren November 10, 2012 at 02:25 AM
I have yet to see any power crews on west valley brook. Nor have I heard it mentioned in any of the updates. There are about 2 miles worth of homes still with nothing all on well and septic.

I just need to have the Dunkin Donuts in LV back in operation....The Latte's are watery at the new Hackettstown DD!!
Randall Sanders November 10, 2012 at 03:04 AM
At 3:30pm today there were crews on Flocktown and Dorset/Warwick drive. I was really hoping for power and to actually drive home via Naughright; nope. Friends staying with me live in Port Murry and they got power today, but the service line to their house had to be replaced! I don't get it. I also agree that getting updates on day 10/11 from the Mayor is seriously ridiculous! Use Facebook and Twitter to be informative, maybe you'll actually have more than 136 followers. Complete nonsense.
MTSO November 10, 2012 at 04:50 AM
No power on Ann Rd near Nestlingwood..... I guess we are still waiting for the Naughright Road debacle to be repaired. This major road in Washington Twsp still closed on day 12 is a disgrace. Thanks JCP&L for nothing...

naughright is now fixed and going to be open anytime
JCPL Supervisor November 10, 2012 at 10:52 PM
I am a supervisor for JCPL and I resent the bashing that JCPL is getting on the patch. Long Valley was placed lower on the priority list than other areas because it does not have any huge businesses or major roads going through it, and because it has a higher percentage of white trash than any other toen in Morris County. There was so much damage that we had to prioritize . . . . do you think that LV residents should come before the residents of a nursing home or hospital???
Carol November 10, 2012 at 11:33 PM
You are a supervisor for JCP&L calling a town white trash...that is absolutely disgusting and uncalled for.
Hookerman November 10, 2012 at 11:38 PM
...and he must be a JCP&L supervisor, because his moniker would not lie!
Aldo Cammalleri Jr November 11, 2012 at 12:03 AM
paula dr has power
Tim November 11, 2012 at 12:06 AM
Still lines down/ no power in Kim Lane/ Jackie Drive despite seeing the crews restoring the lines on Naughright today. I just signed the petition to get JCP&L the hell out of NJ.
duh November 11, 2012 at 01:01 AM
Mayor list roads to open on his website. It's not complete. I don't even see mission road on it! Thanks for the support mayor.
MKorbel November 11, 2012 at 01:04 AM
As of 5pm tonight there were FINALLY a bunch of utility trucks on Beacon Light/Beacon Hill! (First ones I've seen there, or in the area in general, thus far.)
WTHeck November 11, 2012 at 01:13 AM
Mayor is supposedly away on vacation. He really cares deeply for all of us.
Domino November 11, 2012 at 03:41 AM
Mayor Ken Short left yesterday to go on vacation in Aruba. Deputy Mayor Roehrich also left to go out of town. No one is currently in charge. I guess the overhelmng message from the township to those with out power is : We were just re-elected. Don't bother us.
TBD November 11, 2012 at 04:27 AM
Hey jcpl supervisor, the problem is that we have been lied too, whether it is from our mayor or you guys passing false information to us white trash. It's been 2weeks of mis-messaging to us the folks that pay your flippin salary. You guys need to get your heads out where the sun don't shine and be straight up with us. That is all we have been asking. The bashing started due to false information and the promises made last year to us and the recent events. So get your facts straight before you start slinging comments you classless putz.
MTSO November 11, 2012 at 04:51 AM
Hey jcp&l supervisor, how many people came up when you fixed the problem on Naughright? That was our major road and it feeds many developments and a school that was ignored for 12 days. You were fixing single line troubles in other towns when hundreds of families were affected by these downed wires. JCP&L suck.
jj November 11, 2012 at 01:42 PM
Jcpl supervisor: I would be careful. There will be a class action lawsuit, and whether it is won, or lost, last a year or 4, what you have done is taken a position for your company and made a comment that may cost a lot of money. Hopefully, there is nothing criminal, to include power priority to political figures etc. All things pertaining to this debacle will become discoverable, whether in a civil or criminal court. JCPL will be force to fire people, as a sign of good faith, and my guess is you will be one of them my friend. Laugh, and call us WT all you want my friend but I think you underestimate the collection of accomplished people in this town..If anything, all internal emails pertaining to this town on behalf of Long Valley will be turned over...and your remarks will be attributed to you, and attributed as an official statement of the company. Bad Faith cases may never lead to big payouts, but I will just be happy to have the case move along so we can learn more, and for those like yourself, will lose their jobs.
Lost in NJ November 11, 2012 at 03:29 PM
JCPL Supervisor. How do you have time to be berating our community on our Patch? If you aren't catching up on your sleep shouldn't you be 'supervising' the hard working crews in field so they can have some direction, finish the job and get back home to their families? back to work! Or is it only the ground crews doing 16 hour days? If you truly are a representative of JCP&L management, why would anyone be surprised by the FU attitude and lack of respect for our requests for information. Nobody has asked for power before essential services. In fact people have been asking for the schools to be restored before our own homes. Way to represent the company that pays your salary! I hope you will be rewarded for your loyalty and your lack of class
Lost in NJ November 11, 2012 at 05:30 PM
That should read Get back to work!
TBD November 11, 2012 at 08:50 PM
Hey jcpl supervisor, your management team just posted that they under estimated the damage in our town and repairs will not be completed. If you spent your time worrying about what you are reponsible for maybe you guys would have understood what are issues were you fraud. As for the unprofessional derogatory comment I hope you are exposed and you loose your job you classes excuse for human.
