New Webmaster, New Website in Washington Twp.

Six weeks after private firm takes on duties, online presence gets new look.

Less than two months after Washington Township , the municipality’s online presence has undergone a radical facelift.

The new Webmaster, Scott Gaskill, has redesigned the site to feature town announcements, events and messages from the Twitter feed. Gaskill, the Information Technology director for Mt. Olive Township, is under contract with Washington Township through his private business.

To see the redesigned site, go here.

Highlights of the redesigned site include a map of Washington Township noting specific businesses, parks, and municipal buildings, as well as archived and recent Eagle and Gold Award projects from the Boys and Girls Scout troops in town.

Staples from previous iterations of the site remain, such as contact information for committees and departments in town as well as calendar of upcoming municipal meetings.

, leaving Ray Kenny as the sole, full time department member.

The move was made by the township committee to save costs, and committeeman Tracy Tobin stated the municipality would save $300,000 over the next five years by making the move.

Gaskill’s contract took effect Aug. 1, and includes the oversight of Califon Borough’s website.

Where's all the old information, the frame houses, the mayor's road closing map, the Google directions to parks, the search function, the old minutes, the link to the Facebook page? Poorly organized, glommed together by someone from another town who's in it for the money. I suppose that you get what you pay for.

That's not true at all Nolan. The Web designer grew up here and has lived in LV his entire life! I am sure they are willing to take suggestions and ideas of what residents would like to see. Stop complaining and be constructive.

OK, I'm sorry, he lives here and he didn't do it for the money. I don't feel a review is complaining. It would be nice if events had an explanation, location and time (WT Historical Society book sale). It would be nice to have the color coding of the old calendar to catagorize easier. It would be nice if the calendar listings had some event information, It would be nice if all the links to PDF's worked properly (in a new window, like the old site). I liked and miss the list of news articles and I miss the ability to get an email with what's new.

I would suggest you also put your ideas on the Contact button on the WT website so the correct person reads it.
