Motorists are being advised to plan an alternate route Friday and Monday, as roadwork is being done on Schooley’s Mountain Road – the most heavily traveled artery in Washington Township.
Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, crews from the Department of Transportation are expected to close one lane of traffic on the lower portion of Schooley’s Mountain Road (on the southern end). One alternating lane of traffic will be used as the installation of WIM – weigh-in-motion – apparatus will be conducted for the purposes of measuring truck traffic on the roadway.
On Monday, Sept. 9, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Schooley’s Mountain Road will again be down to one lane in alternating directions around James Trail for a section of roadway to be resurfaced. This project is being conducted by the Morris County Department of Public Works.
Alternate routes are advised for both days to avoid traffic congestion.
