Twp. OKs $975K in Road Repairs for 2012

State granted $210,000 for specific work on East Valley Brook Road.

The Washington Township Committee unanimously approved $975,000 in road repairs for 2012 on .

The funds will not be solely burdened by the township, by the Department of Transportation in March of this year, specifically for work on a nearly-one-mile stretch of road on East Valley Brook Road. 

Other projects the township will complete with the approved money include 3,000 feet of repairs on Pleasant Grove Road; 2,500 feet of repairs on Wehrli Road; and nearly three-quarters of a mile on Fairview Avenue.

Those projects were on the “B” list in 2011, deemed by township engineer Leon Hall and Department of Public Works Superintendent Scott Frech.

, , and  were repaved and striped by Tilcon of Wharton last summer.

The “A” list roads were deemed most in need of improvement. Both Fairview and East Valley Brook fell on the ‘B’ list last year. Other roads on that list include West Valley Brook and Mission.

Portions of the roadwork this year will be completed by the department of public works as well as outside contractors once bids are accepted.
