Washington Twp. Dems Endorse Write-In Candidate

Political group urges constituents to put Joseph W. Keyes on ballot.

Joseph W. Keyes has been endorsed by the Washington Township Democratic Committee as a write-in candidate for Washington Township Committee, according to a press release from the Washington Township Democratic Committee.

Mr. Keyes is committed to delivering real solutions for the Washington Township taxpayer to relieve pressure on property taxes while protecting the critical services on which the community depends, the press release said.

“As a taxpayer, I have been frustrated by the constant increases in property taxes while critical services, like emergency dispatch, are damaged by poor planning and knee-jerk cuts,” said Keyes in the press release. “Rich Welch offered a strong, solid plan for the community. When I learned he was moving away, I felt compelled to pick up the campaign for the community.”

“We are particularly excited about Joe’s decision to run for two reasons,” said Sally Hudson, Chairman of the Washington Township Democratic Committee. “First, Joe is exceptionally qualified. He understands the issues, his leadership and management skills are impressive, and he is a man of integrity and commitment to our community.”

“Second, Joe’s decision demonstrates that the Democratic message in Washington Township–defending the taxpayer, supporting our local business community, preserving our open spaces and protecting critical services–appeals to voters across party lines. It is indeed an honor to have a person of Joe’s quality make the decision to formally stand as a Democrat.”

Registered Democrats are encouraged to vote on June 7, and write-in, “Joseph W. Keyes” for Washington Township Committee, the press release said.
