From local races to presidential voting, this week’s Primary Election was a hectic one. While the only township committeeman up for re-election, and , ran unopposed, there was still reason to hit the polls.

Election day had another major event taking place, as candidates looking to run in the November school board election for Washington Township and West Morris Regional were required to file with the county prior to 4 p.m. on Tuesday. Three of the seven incumbents up for re-election between the two districts decided not to run. .

Long Valley Patch spoke with Tom Migliaccio this week, father of Brendt Migliaccio, a 13-year-old student battling brain cancer. Migliaccio shared the story of his family’s journey and where Brendt is now, as he recuperates from his most recent surgery. On Thursday, all members of the West Morris Central lacrosse teams played in a friendly game against each other to raise funds for Migliaccio. .
