What Should School Advisory Group Do Now?

Months-old committee could dissolve if towns can't agree on focus of feasibility study.

The borough's vote falls in line with the same sentiments expressed by Mendham Township, which also decided against funding a study if that option was included.

Washington Township, Mendham Borough and Chester Township all remain steadfast in their choice to study a mega K-12 district; two separate K-12 school districts serving Washington Township and the Chesters and Mendhams, respectively; and one K-12 district for Washington Township, and a single high school for the Mendhams and Chesters, with all K-8 districts remaining in tact.

Without a unanimous decision by the five towns, a feasibility study won't be commissioned.

The next meeting of the West Morris Regional Education Advisory Committee, which includes representatives from the five towns and five school boards, is Thursday, Aug. 16 in Mendham Township.
