Fall Sports Previews Headed Your Way

Long Valley Patch checked in with West Morris Central athletics to see what the 2011 season will look like.

At a school like West Morris Central, academic achievement is paramount, and student success over the years has been clear evidence of that.

But when the final bell rings each school day, for some students, the second session of learning has just begun. Those students are the ones who comprise the sports teams, and spend six days a week practicing and competing.

And at Long Valley Patch, we feel those student-athletes and their teams deserve plenty of recognition for their accomplishments.

Starting Tuesday, Aug. 30, you’ll be able to see previews of all the fall sports teams right here at Long Valley Patch. We attended summer practices, spoke with coaches and players, and got a feel for what to expect in the upcoming season to share with you, our readers, and the teams’ biggest fans.

Each preview will include the team’s schedule, who to watch, who was lost to graduation, and thoughts on what to expect. We'll also put any and all sports coverage under the column heading '2011 West Morris Central Fall Sports' so it's easier for you to find all the coverage in one spot.

On Tuesday, check in to see the girls’ and boys’ varsity soccer teams and what they hope to accomplish this fall. Wednesday we’ll highlight . Thursday takes a look at the varsity volleyball team, a powerhouse last season, hoping to repeat the success of the past few years. On Friday, we’ll take a close look at the Wolfpack football team, a perennial contender seeking redemption after a heartbreaking playoff . We'll complete our preview coverage on Saturday with previews of the girls' tennis team and both cross country squads.
