Historical Society Offers $500 College Scholarship

Students who plan to attend a two- or four-year college in the fall and have an interest in history can apply for the scholarship.

The Washington Township Historical Society will award a scholarship to a graduating senior who lives in the township and plans to attend a two- or four-year college or university in the fall.

The $500 scholarship will be given to a student who plans to pursue a history-related major, or has demonstrated an interest in history on the local or regional level, or who has done a project directly benefiting the Washington Township Historical Society.

The applicant must include a 400- to 500-word essay showing the student’s interest in history while in high school. The format and quality of this essay will be taken into consideration. 

West Morris Central High School seniors can get applications from the school’s guidance department.  Students not attending West Morris should request an application from the Historical Society, Attention: Mrs. Karen Muscat, P.O. Box 189, Long Valley, NJ 07853, or call 908-876-9696 to request an application and information.

The deadline for applications from students outside of West Morris Central is April 18.
