Meet the Candidates at West Morris Central Thursday Night

Two high school principal candidates will take part in open forum.

There’s a special event taking place tonight over at that all residents have a stake in. The West Morris Regional High School District Board of Education whittled down its pool for principal to two candidates. Here are a handful of tips you need to know about tonight’s event.

You Need to Know the Details: The open forum starts at 7 p.m. in the West Morris Central High School Auditorium. There are two candidates that will answer questions from the public during the forum.

You Need to Know About the Principal Position: The current principal, Gil Moscatello, has been the acting head of the school administration during the 2010-11 school year. Moscatello will return to his former position as assistant principal in 2011-12.

You Need to Know Who Will Be There: West Morris Regional Superintendent of Schools Anthony di Battista will be on hand, as well as Board of Education President Cristen Forrester. And of course, the public and other school faculty members are welcomed to attend.

You Need to Know Some Lineage: Over the past two school years, the principal position has been filled by Moscatello and current Assistant Principal Robert Perkins on an interim basis. The candidate hired for the position will be expected to perform the duties of head principal and not shuffle between posts.

You Need to Know Why This Involves You: If you have a child in the high school, one in a K-8 school that will someday attend the high school, or if you just pay taxes in Washington Township, this decision affects you. Finding out about the candidates and learning what their vision is while asking questions could ultimately play a factor in who is chosen.
