Both high schools in the West Morris Regional district–Mendham and West Morris Central–ranked 143 and 220 by Newsweek respectively among all schools–private and public–in the nation.

The magazine’s annual report factored in a variety of assessments, using graduation rate, college matriculation rate, AP tests taken per graduate, average SAT/ACT scores, average AP/IB/AICE scores, and AP courses offered as the basis for scoring the top 500 schools, the report said.

Mendham High School ranked 11 in the state of New Jersey, with Central coming in at number 18. Both schools have a 99 percent graduation rate, with Mendham boasting a 97 percent rate of college-bound seniors, and Central right behind with a 96 percent college rate, the Newsweek report said.
