Nor'easter Knocks Out Local Schools Friday

Second straight snow day combined with Monday's holiday creates a five-day weekend.

For the second straight day, all local schools will be closed as a nor'easter pounds New Jersey.

Washington Township and West Morris Regional school districts announced they would shut their doors Friday just after 8 p.m. Thursday, as a second band of snow and ice – mixed with rare winter lightning and thunder – barreled through the area.

Both districts are also closed on Monday for Presidents Day, making for an impromptu five-day weekend.

This is the sixth day in the last 10 that the districts have had an altered or closed bell schedule.
